Six Dots Design at Design London 2021

By Six Dots Design

Between the 22nd - 25th September, Six Dots Design will make its debut at Design London 2021. The new design studio’s stand will be centered around a redesigned claw machine from a disused arcade in Cornwall. Instead of cuddly toys, however, the machine will hold maquettes of the studio’s furniture.

In the midst of ultimate uncertainty, how does a Bath architecture graduate deal with fear, losing a loved one and the worst job market in decades? He makes furniture in his parents garage and purchases an arcade claw machine on ebay. Naturally. Joseph Ellwood, the designer and founder of Six Dots Design had this to say: ‘The Claw machine, represents myself and my relationship with my work. Each time someone purchases an item, they really purchase a small part of me. My work and designs are so ingrained in who I am as a person.’ Collection highlights include ‘This Chair Sucks’ a carved Saepele bench with pyrographed lettering. The piece is the result of a frustration at the designer/maker’s own shortcomings and intense feelings of self doubt.
